Paint and the Environment

The paint industry as a whole is working hard to reduce it's impact on the environment. Many paints contain differing degrees of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) which it is recognised can have a harmful effect on the environment. Reduced levels of VOC's have been introduced by the paint industry since January 2006 with further reductions coming into force during 2009 and the company fully supports these initiatives.

We stock and sell a number of products marketed specifically as environmentally friendly products. Dulux Trade Ecosure a water based paint in Matt, Gloss and Undercoat formulation with a full colour range has reduced VOC's as well as lower embedded carbon. Ecosure products are also filled into cans containing at least 25% post consumer recycled material. We are also key stockists of the Earthborn range of Claypaint and Emulsions. This range of products was awarded the EU Ecolabel 'Flower' symbol in 2005 and meets the strict environmental requirements of the scheme.

To aid decorators on large sites to clean out their equipment more efficiently we are able to supply two types of the ICI Envirowash system - the ES450 and the ES160 are both available from Brewers. They cleverly turn effluent from washing of brushes and tools into clear water and inert paint solids.
