Drenching a room in your favourite colour has come straight from the catwalk and taken the world of interiors by storm. Use tints, tones, and shades of the same hue to make a real statement within the space. Drench to the extreme and paint everything from ceiling to trims, or start with the walls, ceiling and furniture and see where you want to go from there. If you decide you want to mix things up a bit later, you can use an accent colour to completely transform the look.

Painting areas in a colour that is usually painted white is a great way to bring the room bang up to date. Radiators can stick out like a sore thumb, so painting them the same colour as your wall is a great way for a radiator to blend in seamlessly to the scheme. You could go one further and paint your skirting boards or dado rails in the same colour as well for a flawless look.

Coloured paint is used most commonly on walls, but what about ceilings? As we know, the use of colour can evoke a wide range of feelings which can be further enhanced by painting your ceiling as well. Go bright and light in a more neutral colour that will complement the colour of your walls rather than traditional white. You could create a cocooning and calming feel by painting your ceiling the same colour as your walls, which works well in a bedroom or snug. If you want to go bolder, using a darker colour on the ceiling will make a room feel grander and cosier at the same time which is effective in rooms with high ceilings and coving.

Top Tip: Why not try Benjamin Moore Ceiling Paint? This paint has been specially formulated for ceilings and its finish is ultra-flat, designed to hide common ceiling imperfections for a flawless look. Benjamin Moore Ceilings Paint is an acrylic coating specifically formulated for ceilings, with sufficient open time to ensure the slightest lapping and minimal splatter, with a quicker drying time for faster recoats.

Unique ways to use paint on a wall will create a beautiful feature which is sure to stand out from the crowd! Using any kind of curvy pattern on the wall is trending right now, so why not be bold and have some fun with it. If you’re really brave you can even try creating an ombre effect on the wall, which not only has aesthetic appeal but can produce an incredibly calming feel to the room. Shelves, items hanging from hooks and asymmetrical picture frames can bring the feature wall forward, just be sure the room feels balanced. Choosing the right wall in the room is also an important factor to consider as it needs to be a natural focal point with light working in its favour.
