Dopamine Décor - How To Get That Feel Good Factor In Your Home
August 5th, 2024
Dopamine is the feel-good chemical
that is released in the brain – so why wouldn’t you want to use your home to
create a dose of dopamine? Here we have put together some schemes inspired by
things that make us happy using colours from Albany, bringing nothing but joy
into our living spaces. Available exclusively at Brewers Decorator Centres.
The dopamine decor colour palette:
For each look, we have used a base
palette of four colours that evoke feelings of joy:
Butternut – a warm and inviting peach
Lip Gloss – an energetic pink
Thirst Quencher – a vibrant aqua
Cypress – a lush green
Dopamine Décor #1 – Whimsical Waves
“I absolutely adore living by the sea. I find whenever I’m near the ocean, I feel more uplifted and relaxed, so bringing this into the home is a great way to feel joy. I have hand painted waves using Cypress and Thirst Quencher to create an under the sea feeling in a really uplifting and whimsical way…it’s giving mermaid who has discovered lost treasures of the sea vibes!”

Dopamine Décor #2 – Floral Folk
“I love a good fairytale and spend hours getting lost in a really good book. I have created a design inspired by Scandinavian folk art that feels very organic and illustrative, telling a story in its own right. I love being surrounded by flora and fauna, so I wanted to incorporate this within my design. I enjoyed painting the wall just as much as the final result and love the raw quality of the final result. This shows how beautiful the decorating process can be, creating a space that fuels your creativity”

Dopamine Décor #3 – One Of A Kind Ombre
“The Albany colours really reminded me of the colours found in nature, all the way from the sky to the sea. I find plant life, water and sunsets really calming and wanted to create the same sense of calm within my living space. I also wanted to celebrate the graduation of colour that can be found in our natural world, so I decided to use the paint technique of ombre to demonstrate this within the scheme.”

Dopamine Décor #4 – Sensational Stripes
“Bold statements and bright colours bring me infinite joy. I am very graphical in nature because of my job, so strong prints that showcase colour make me very happy – especially when I get to design them! I love the use of stripes within decorating and find the masking tape peeling so satisfying and I knew I wanted to incorporate as many geometric shapes as possible! I love nothing more than dancing to music from the 90s, so I wanted to create a space where I could let loose and feel utter euphoria.”

Dopamine Décor #5 – Worldly Wanderer
“I love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many places during my lifetime. When I’m editing, I like to be in a space that feels really inspirational to me which is why I wanted to base my design around my passion for travelling. When I spotted the Albany wallpaper, Palace Dreams, I knew I wanted to base my whole scheme around it. I wanted the space to bring about a sense of fun so decided to sponge and flick layers of colour to complement the wallpaper. Decorating can be really hard work so it was great to have a bit of fun with this one!”
