How To Choose The Right Trim Colour
September 13th, 2024
Skirting, coving and doorways could be
seen as the outline of a room and can make or break your whole scheme. Here we look
at different ways to paint your trim that can dramatically change the whole
look of your room.
1. Neutral
Trim
A neutral trim is the most obvious choice with the most common decision being an all-white trim.
White trim can pair with any colour or pattern so it’s an easy choice to make, but be careful not to choose a white that is so bright, it makes the wall colour seem dull or dirty.
If you want to elevate the look, why not choose a white with subtle undertones that complement the other colours within the room.
2. Low Contrast Trim
Choosing a colour for your trim that belongs to the same colour family as the walls creates a coherent look whilst adding depth to your space.
It’s also a subtle way to introduce a quiet luxury feel, especially when choosing a sophisticated colour palette.
3. High Contrast Trim
A high contrast trim was very popular in historical designs, so this is a great way to get the heritage feel in your home.
A high contrast trim is seeing a resurgence in interiors and can be a great way to add a statement colour to your space without committing to whole walls.
4. No Contrast Trim
Painting your trim the same colour as your walls is a really on-trend way to extend the height of your walls.
With a range of interior multi-surface paints on the market, you can use the same finish on the walls and trim for an effortless look. Check out these finishes here>>
