To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease or wax.
New or bare metal surfaces up to 90ºC should be primed with an appropriate Dulux Trade primer. Above that temperature, the aluminium paint should be applied direct to the clean, prepared surface.
Thoroughly rub down previously painted surfaces, using ‘wet flatting’ methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth.
Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
- By brush only.
- For Health & Safety reasons relating to all solvent-based paints, spray application is not recommended.
- As with other solvent-based paints, do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC (as recommended by British Standard BS 6150).
After use, remove as much product as possible from brushes before cleaning with brush cleaner.
