In detail

Johnstone's Trade Acrylic Satin is a low VOC content satin finish. It is a washable product which is thinned with water and is applied by brush. It is suitable for interior and exterior use. It is touch dry in 1-2 hours and recoatable after 4 hours. Water based satin is a tough, durable mid sheen finish for wood and metal, which is non-yellowing and provides good resistance to knocking and scuffing.

It can be applied over most previously painted surfaces without an undercoat. On new surfaces apply over the top of a suitable primer.

    Additional information

    Preparation
All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. Rub down sound
glossy surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly before applying a pre-coat of Johnstone's Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Treat knots with Johnstone's Woodworks Knotting Solution and prime exposed wood and metal surfaces with an appropriate primer. Special precautions should be taken during the surface preparation of pre-1960's paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

    Application
Stir well before use and apply by brush or roller. Apply liberally and evenly for a smooth finish. Two coats are recommended under most conditions. Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C or in damp conditions.

    Coverage
Johnstone's Acrylic Satin will cover approximately 12 square metres per litre depending on the nature and porosity of the surface.

    Drying Time
    Touch dry 1-2 hours.
    Allow 4 hours between coats.

    After Use
Remove as much paint as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Replace lid firmly. Clean equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty surplus product into drains or watercourses.
