In detail

Sandtex Trade Fine Textured Matt is a water-based, high opacity, fine textured finish for exterior masonry surfaces. Has an aggregate reinforced film with an anti-carbonation coating which prevents dirt build up on the surface and a fungicide to prevent mould growth. Provides 15 years of long lasting protection.

Can be applied to sound, previously coated render without thinning. On sound bare render, thin the first coat with water to manufacturer's recommendations. On chalky, friable surfaces, apply a stabilising solution as a priming coat, before applying a masonry coating.

Application is by brush or roller with coverage up to 7sq/m per litre. Touch dry between 1-2 hours and recoatable between 4-6 hours.

    Additional information

    Surfaces

Sandtex Trade Fine Textured Matt can be applied to most sound exterior masonry surfaces including rendering (stucco), roughcast pebbledash and tyrolean; building blocks, concrete and facing bricks, exterior cement - based boards; surfaces previously painted with gloss and emulsion paints and other masonry and cement paints. Fletton, common or engineering bricks (regrades and facing) and bitumen coated surfaces are not suitable for decoration.

    Preparation

For new or porous sound surfaces, apply 1 coat Sandex Trade Fine Textured Matt diluted 40% by volume with clean water, as a primer. Any faults in old surfaces must be rectified. Particular attention should be given to those which may lead to moisture penetration. Minor defects should be repaired with Sandiest Trade Exterior Easiplast. All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from any thing which may interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied. Sound gloss paint should be thoroughly abraded to provide a key. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Loose or flaking material should be removed by scraping and brushing back to a sound, firm surface with a stiff bristle brush (not wire). Organic growth must be removed by scraping or brushing with a stiff bristle brush (not wire) and applying Sandex Trade Fungicide In accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Chalking, weathered and friable surfaces should be brushed down and treated with a liberal application of Sandtex Trade Stabilising Solution. Allow at least 16 hours before painting.
