Ensure surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease. Remove all loose or defective paint. Seal absorbent surfaces with a solution of up to 1 part water to 4 parts Hardwearing Matt. Prime bare timber and metal surfaces with the appropriate Leyland Primer. Rub down sound previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly before applying a pre-coat of Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Stir well before use and apply by brush, roller or spray. When using a roller, use a medium pile synthetic type. Do not overfill the tray. Ensure roller is loaded evenly. If using a brush, load generously. Apply liberally and evenly; avoid overspreading. Under normal conditions, allow 4 hours before applying a second coat if required. Do not apply when air or surface temperature is below 10°C.
1 litre will cover approximately 12 square metres, depending on the nature and porosity of the surface. Strong or contrasting colours may require additional coats. When using more than one can of a colour in the same room, intermix before use.
