Preparation
Correct preparation is vital to ensure you obtain the full benefits from Bradite Fastrac ME53 Full Gloss and SE53 Satin.
Application
- By brush, roller or spray (please refer to data sheet for spraying information).
- Apply one or two further full coats as required.
- Bradite Fastrac ME53 and SE53 will be touch dry in
- 2 hours at 20°C, but a minimum of 16 hours should be allowed before over coating.
- Touch dry in 2 hours, recoat 16 hours with full cure after 7 days
- The theoretical (maximum) spreading rate is 13 square metres per litre per coat. Loss factors will apply in practice.
- Tools should be cleaned with white spirit after use.
- Thinning with TW35.
New and unpainted steel:
- High pressure water cleaning to remove all loose salts and other contaminants.
- Degrease using a suitable detergent, BRADITE TD39, with scrubbing plus high pressure water cleaning to remove any oil contamination not removed by high pressure cleaning alone, rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
- Mechanically or manually prepared steel to a clean metallic finish, SIS-St 3 minimum.
- Substrate to be dry, clean and free of contamination and dust free prior to coating.
Existing coatings:
- Jet wash to remove all loose and flaking paint, salts and other contaminants.
- Degrease using Bradite TD39 diluted with up to 9 parts of warm water and scrubbing to remove any oil contamination not removed with jet washing alone, rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
- Existing coatings should be well adhered with all edges tight and well feathered.
- Bare or rusted steel should be manually or mechanically abraded to a clean metallic finish (SIS-St 3).
- Substrate should be clean, dust free and dry before application.
- Spot prime with correct primer.
- Galvanised steel, Aluminium and other non-ferrous steels should be roughened or lightly abraded and treated with Bradite Barrier Primer EU96 or Bradite Sorted WP45.
- New bright galvanised should be degreased and treated with Bradite TM38 pre-treatment for galvanised steel
