Brewers Spotlight: Renewing Decorating

May 12th, 2023

We wanted to give the spotlight to some of our incredible customers, so we got in touch with Dan Newing of Renewing Decorating and member of the Brush Wizards to find out more about his work and business.

Thank you for taking the time to speak to me Dan! Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and Renewing Decorating:

Thank you! I went to college straight from school at the age of 16 to learn painting and decorating and have been painting and decorating on and off since then. I have also taught my two brothers the trade and all three of us work together under the Renewing business.

We are now a successful, family run decorating business, covering the south east of Kent. With professionalism at our fingertips, we specialise in all areas of domestic and commercial, both interior and exterior painting and decorating, to the very highest of standards and consistency.

Ah that’s amazing that you work as a family business! What are the highlights of working together?

We are super proud of the level of service we offer, and we believe right from the very start that with the correct level of preparation, and our ability to advise on the best materials for the specific job, that we can achieve the highest level of finish for our customers.

Creativity is at the forefront of our team, and we love keeping up to date with the latest technology in painting and decorating. Whilst we are qualified to City & Guilds standard in paint spraying, we are always happy to offer the more traditional methods of paintbrush and roller. Dustless sanding is another of our specialisms too!

Sounds like a talented bunch! What has been your proudest job so far?

When it comes to vintage restoration, we are confident that the focus, care, and consideration that we input into our craftsmanship will breathe life back into original characteristics and features. This proved true in a Georgian house we worked on recently in Margate.

When it came to restoring the front door, we managed to revive all the old brass features, including an old servant’s bell that had been covered in layers of paint. The surround was skimmed with Touprelith F Masonry Repair Filler, Repaircare was needed to rectify some rot on the door, and the door was finished in Johnstone’s Stormshield flexible system.

It must have been a really satisfying job, to work on restoring original features and the final result looks incredible! What do you like about using Brewers?

My local Brewers is in Margate, Kent. I like the wide range of paint and the tool selection, which is always available. Even if it’s not in stock on the day, the staff will always ensure its sourced and ready as soon as possible and delivered to site quickly when we’re desperate.

It’s been a pleasure to hear and see some of your work and we look forward to seeing future projects!
