Problem Solver - GRP Boat
Problem
A glass re-inforced plastic (know as GRP) is a common material for boat construction.
Stages
Stage 1 - Preparation
The surface must be thoroughly cleaned. Use methylated spirit or proprietary panel wipes. A very light sand is advised but avoid excessive sanding as this may expose glass reinforcement.
Where damage has occurred use polyester fillers to make good the damage.
Stage 2 - Basecoat
Prime the surface with an appropriate Primer.
Apply appropriate coloured Marine Undercoat.
Stage 3 - Topcoat
Apply appropriate coloured Marine Gloss.
Where slip resistance is required apply 2 or more coats of textured deck paint.
