Lending a Helping Hand with The Children’s Respite Trust

October 25th, 2021

Brewers Uckfield and Area Development Manager Tony Guarino worked together to donate the materials required to redecorate The Children’s Respite Trust building. £500 was also donated to help The Children’s Respite Trust continue their vital care work.

The former Friday Advertiser printing works was converted into The East Sussex Children’s Respite Centre back in October 2017. Tony visited the centre to see how we could help supply the material necessary to give the centre a new lease of life. 10L of Albany Durable Matt, 20L of Albany Vinyl Matt, 2.5L of Zinsser Water Tite, 1L of Albany Fungicidal Wash and some sundries were all donated by Brewers Uckfield.

The centre has a large play area including a messy play area, a soft play area and a family style dining room. Across from the open plan kitchen is a sensory corner with bubble tower, star curtains, a sensory tiled floor and fibre optics. The upstairs of the centre hosts a quiet lounge with a TV, games, library, and the comfiest sofas. The centre also contains a therapy room for children to have quiet time and a chance for parents to discuss the needs of their children.

The centre has been carefully designed for some of the most unwell children in our community, who often can’t be left for a moment. The centre allows families to have a much-needed break and a chance to do the things that everybody else takes for granted whist the children can have some fun! The centre provides respite throughout East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton, Hove, Surrey, and Kent.
