Paint Colour Of The Year: Faded Terracotta

August 12th, 2022

Faded Terracotta from Farrow & Ball has won Paint Colour Of The Year in the Livingetc Style Awards 2022.

A soft, pale orange, Faded Terracotta is one of eight sun-soaked hues from the California Collection created by Farrow & Ball in partnership with internationally acclaimed designer Kelly Wearstler.

Combining 75 years of expertise from Farrow & Ball with Kelly’s unrivalled eye for colour and form, the result is a versatile palette perfect for summer.

This warm shade is the singular colour of terracotta pots and tiles baked to a pale hue by the California sun.

Described by the judges as ‘sun-kissed serenity’, Faded Terracotta makes a great alternative to pink or neutral shades.

It also pairs perfectly with other colours from the same collection: try Faded Terracotta walls with Hazy woodwork and Salt on the ceiling for an effortless scheme or Palm woodwork and strong grey Stoke as an accent colour for a bolder look.

Faded Terracotta has proved popular with designers and homeowners, as well as the judges.

‘It looks and feels really fresh,’ says designer Eva Sonaike. ‘It would bring a lot of warmth.’

Similarly, interior designer Rukmini Patel also says: ‘I love how it changes with the light and it has a very grounding effect.’
