Hayley Comes Out On Top For Charity Fundraiser

September 20th, 2023

Well done to Hayley Pipe, who abseiled a jaw-dropping 100 metres down the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth at the beginning of September to raise money for a children’s charity.

Store Process Support Co-ordinator, Hayley, who is well known for her inability to resist a challenge, has so far managed to raise over £300 for the charity, Challengers, which supports children with disabilities and their families.

Hayley was in the first group of fundraisers who ventured up the tower and the first one out onto the platform.

Hayley said: ‘The views were stunning and it seemed like no time at all before I was all clipped on and over the edge supported by the two lines, then walking slowly backwards down a wall 100 metres up!  I didn’t have the confidence to “bounce” my way down, but it meant I had time to take in the view and savour the moment.’

She added: ‘It was very well organised and just an amazing experience. I really enjoyed it!  At the moment I have raised £367 which I am hoping will go up a bit more and Brewers have promised to match this, so hopefully the final figure will be close to £1,000.’

Challengers is dedicated to providing inclusive play for more than 1,000 children and young people with disabilities and Brewers has worked with them for over a decade, providing financial support and materials to maintain essential buildings and equipment.
