Addiction recovery charity blown away by Brewers’ donation
July 20th, 2023
A charity in Brighton and Hove that aims to help
people to recover from addiction and rebuild their lives
were beyond thrilled with the support given to them by their “fabulous” local
Brewers store in New England Street.
Kennedy
Street Recovery provides a hub in central Brighton offering a safe, sober space
for people to learn about recovery from those who are in recovery themselves,
take part in personal development workshops and get coaching to help them
rebuild their lives.
Branch Manager, Mark Carter, said: ‘We came to know about this charity
from an email that was forwarded by our CEO, Simon Brewer. I made contact with their
CEO, Clare Kennedy, who told us they needed some paint and materials to
decorate their new recovery hub.'
When Clare came to collect the
supplies, we ran everything through the till at zero cost and she was really
blown away, as she was hoping to get a discount, but not expecting to pay
nothing at all. She could not keep the tears of happiness back bless
her!’
Mark
McTaggart, Operations
Manager at the charity said: ‘The kind
donation of paint from Brewers has helped us to decorate our hub and make
it much more welcoming, so we can run sober social events and open our
recovery cafe. The decorating was great fun, with all our volunteers
helping out, and led by one volunteer who is launching his own decorating
business.
Thanks to Brewers for supporting our small, local charity that is
changing lives in our community.’
