Serving The Young Community Through The Medium Of Music
October 10th, 2024
Brewers Thornton Heath were thrilled
to support the Music Relief Foundation (MRF) with the donation of paint
supplies to redecorate their space. The MRF are the leading voice for young
people and empower grassroots communities in the Thornton Heath area.
The MRF Vision: To
provide a range of opportunities to young people through music, partnering with
different bodies to secure funding.
The
MRF Mission: To empower and develop the potential of young people and their
families using the medium of music. Through music, they aim to improve the
wellbeing of individuals through increased resilience, confidence and hope.
The
MRF was founded in 2011 by Magdalene Usikaro, inspired by Magdalene’s
first-hand experience of the hardships, isolation and challenges faced as a
teenage parent. The charity started with an initial target audience of teenage
mums, becoming a place where young mothers could find refuge, receive
counselling and make friends. Now the MRF have been able to reach a wider range
of young people, responding to the challenges young people face today. The MRF
have a series of events and even run their own music school to engage with
young members of the community through music.
16L
of Albany paint and sundries have been donated to transform their facilities to
create a more inspiring and welcoming environment for students. The finished
space looks fantastic and we can’t wait to see how the MRF grows from strength
to strength!
