Before you go and visit your local Brewers Decorator Centre stop. What type of finish do I want to achieve?

Are you're looking for a super shiny look? A gloss paint will give you a modern glossy look. Try Rust-Oleum Gloss Finish Furniture Paint.

If it's a luxurious sheen you're looking for, a satin finish is for you. Little Greene Intelligent Eggshell or Farrow & Ball Estate Eggshell will achieve an opulent satin finish.

To create a shabby chic finish, use a smooth, matt finish like Rust-Oleum Chalky Furniture Paint or Earthborn Eco Chic. You could complete this look by distressing the chair using a piece of sandpaper, once the paint is fully dry.

Tips

  • • Get yourself a good quality brush or roller to apply paint to the furniture.

  • • We recommend that you start at the top of the piece and work your way down. Be sure to smooth out any paint drips as you work downwards.

  • • Give the furniture two coats of paint. This will give you a vibrant even finish!

  • • Consider sealing the furniture with a varnish, wax or lacquer to give your furniture an extra layer of protection and preserve its life.
