What A Fantastic Transformation! Donating Supplies To Sevenoaks Day Nursery

When Sevenoaks Day Nursery reached out asking for a donation of supplies to transform a new classroom we had to say yes! 24L of Albany Supercover and 1L of Albany Grenada Green alongside sundries were donated and the results look amazing!

Sevenoaks Day Nursery (SDN) is a Kent based charity providing low-cost, all-day childcare throughout the year to families with young children. SDN has been proudly providing much needed affordable childcare for over 35 years, and in this time the nursery’s core values and guiding principles have remained to provide safe, reliable care for the children in a home-from–home environment.

The not-for-profit model makes SDN a unique and much needed local service for working families. They actively encourage applications from single parent families, parents returning to work and those whose children have special educational needs. The nursery is proud to also provide temporary, free emergency childcare via referrals from social services for children in vulnerable circumstances.

 “On behalf of the entire team at Sevenoaks Day Nursery, we would like to pass on our sincere thanks to Brewers for the incredible support of our recent classroom refurbishment.

Following the recent acquiring of an additional space for the nursery, we quickly developed plans to transform this area into a dedicated Pre School-Classroom, with our dreams for this space including being able to concentrate on the specific learning journey that will prepare children for starting school, including register time, pencil control, counting, shapes, numbers and much more.” - Sevenoaks Day Nursery.

As well as being a dedicated learning environment, use of this new area means that the nursery can increase the capacity by 14 children, which is a much-needed impact within the current spareness of local childcare provisions. Sadly, the room itself was in desperate need of a redecoration in order to be ready for opening this month (September 2023). 

The decorating process.

“Thanks to incredibly kind help from Brewers, we have been able to now transform the unused area into a dedicated “Pre-School” room. Using the donations of paint and decorating materials from Brewers, our team of staff and parent volunteers have been able to convert the space into an inspiring area for little learners.”

The children’s first week has gone really well, and the children and parents have all commented on how much they like the new colours, especially the grasshopper painted on the walls of the entrance.

“The children are all excited to come in in the mornings, and all settle well in the new space. They are really enjoying the room and a favourite play spot is the home corner with the doctors, babies, and kitchen” Olivia, Sevenoaks Day Nursery.

As well as imaginative play, the children will be able to continue practicing essential skills to help them thrive in their first year of school next year, including sitting at the table to paint and draw together, and using the new book corner during circle time. The children all come to the table at mealtimes to help to prepare and serve their own meals and drinks, and then take their meals back to their own table to eat.
