In detail

Leyland Trade Vinyl Silk is a minimal VOC content silk finish. It is a washable product which is thinned with water and is suitable for interior use. 

Silk emulsion is a decorative coating providing a mid sheen finish for use on walls and ceilings. Washable products are ideal for medium traffic areas such as lounges and bedrooms.

Can be applied to coated plaster surfaces without thinning. On new plaster, it is ideal to use a thinned first coat of matt emulsion or contract emulsion as a priming coat, prior to finishing with silk emulsion. Touch dry in 1-2 hours and recoatable after 3-4 hours.

    Surface Preparation

    Ensure the surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease. Remove all loose an defective paint. Prime where required with the appropriate Leyland Primer. Rub down glossy surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Seal absorbent surfaces with a solution of up to 1 part water to 9 parts Vinyl Silk.

    Application

    • Stir well before use.
    • Do not thin, except for absorbent surfaces or when applying by roller or spray when a small quantity of clean water may be added.
    • Suitable for application by brush, roller or spray.
    • Apply paint evenly and avoid overspreading.
    • If required, apply a second coat after 3-4 hours.
    • Do not apply in temperatures below 10ºC.

    Clean Up

    Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

    Some local authorities have special facilities for disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses. Replace lid firmly.
