A great source of inspiration for Mini Moderns, the 1951 Festival of Britain gave rise to a very special collaboration between science and design. The Festival Pattern Group turned molecular structure diagrams into avant-garde patterns and designs used across wallpapers, carpets, dress fabrics and homeware, celebrating scientific innovation in post war post-war Britain. With its atomic dots and hand drawn lines, Cascade takes inspiration from these design pioneers, whilst also referencing another Mini Moderns fascination - the wooden molecular models that they loved in science class.
