    Surface Preparation

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be stained are sound, clean, dry and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease and wax. Surfaces that have been previously painted or varnished must be stripped back to bare wood. All surfaces should be thoroughly rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper (working in the direction of the grain) and then dusted off.

Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. All screws, nails and other fixings must be non-ferrous.

    Application

    • Brush only.
    • For Health & Safety reasons relating to all solvent-based paints, spray application is not recommended.
    • As with all solvent-based paints, do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC (as recommended by British Standard BS 6150).

    Clearing Up

After use, remove as much woodstain as possible from brushes before cleaning with brush cleaner.
