Surface Preparation
Shake well before and during use. Ensure the timber is dry and free from dust/dirt and any surface coating including paint or varnish. Clean weathered and dirty wood and allow to dry. Where necessary sand down smooth softwood and wipe over lightly with Bird Brand White Spirit before application. Where timbers are suffering from decay, remove all decayed wood and replace with sound, treated timber before application.
Application
Brush: Apply on average 2 even coats covering all faces, sides and joints, paying particular attention to the end grain which should be treated to saturation.
Sprayer: Follow manufacturer's guidelines using a coarse spray avoiding misting and damage to surrounding surfaces/property.
Dipping: Dip for at least 15 minutes, ensuring the end grain is completely saturated.
Clean Up
Clean tools immediately after use with warm soap water, subsequently rinse with clear water.
