Additional information

Product description
Transparent-tinted, satin-matt wood finish, which combines all the advantages of oils and waxes in one unique product.
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints are resistant to water and dirt, very durable and smoothen wood surfaces. In comparison to conventional finishes, the natural vegetable oils and waxes allow for an even colouring and a harmonic, smooth surface result.

Easy application
No need for a primer or sanding between coats - saves time and money. It meets the wood's natural demands: It is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial norm). When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants and is suitable for children's toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm) and fast to perspiration and saliva in accordance with DIN 53160 (German industrial norm). Recommended use: Ideal for all interior wooden and cork floors as well as furniture.

Storage
Shelf life is 5 years or more if can is tightly closed. Store in a dry place. If thickened by frost it will regain a normal consistency under normal temperatures within 24 - 36 hours.

Preparation
Wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 18 %). Polyx®-Oil Tints are ready-to-use, please do no thin, stir well before use.
Clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, remove old varnish (Osmo Paint Remover or by sanding). Always wear a dust mask when sanding.
Small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled with Osmo Woodfiller.
Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper-final sanding for flooring P 120 -150, furniture P 220 -240.
Remove dust etc. thoroughly from the surface before application.
The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood's natural characteristics, therefore a trial application is required before finishing.

Application

  • Transparent tint: Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with either an Osmo Floor Brush or the Osmo Microfibre Roller and spread well.
  • Allow for good ventilation whilst drying.
  • If a more intense colour tone is required a second coat can be applied (maximum two coats).
  • Light leached effect: Wipe off after approx. 20 minutes using either a lint free cloth or white pad, going along the grain.
  • Intensive colour tone: For this we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish.
Important: A maximum of 1 coat of Polyx®-Oil Tints may be applied to a floor. After thorough drying a top coat of Osmo Polyx-Oil must be applied.

Cleaning of tools
Clean working utensils with Osmo Brush Cleaner (benzene-free).

Drying time
Approx. 24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/ 50 %, normal humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time.

Note
Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look). A clean Osmo Microfibre Roller can be used to remove brush marks within 30 mins of application. Cork flooring is highly porous and requires an especially thin application, as a result the drying time is increased (min. 24 hours per coat).
For dark hardwoods such as Wenge, Teak, Merbau, Jatoba we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. Trial application is most definitely recommended.
