Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus is a premium, low-build, solvent-borne woodstain formulated to protect and highlight exterior timber. Highly translucent and microporous, it brings out the natural beauty of the wood grain while offering robust resistance against UV rays, water, mould, algae, cracking, and peeling.

  • Base Coat System: Works as a base stain prior to applying high-build finishes like Cetol Filter 7 Plus or Cetol THB Plus on smooth, planed joinery.
  • Weather & Biological Defence: Microporous, water-repellent formula guards against mould, algae, and UV radiation while resisting peeling and cracking.
  • Enhances Woodgrain: Highly translucent finish accentuates the natural grain structure of the wood.

Recommended Use

  • Exterior - Ideal for exterior softwood and hardwood substrates including cladding, door frames, sheds, window frames, trellis, fascias, soffits, fencing, and rough sawn timber.

Note: Cetol HLS Plus should not be used alone as a finish on exterior hardwood joinery (other than decking).

Application

Stir thoroughly before use. Do not apply if there is a risk of rain. For best results, use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.

Surface Preparation

Where necessary, apply a single coat of Cetol Aktiva or Cetol BL Aktiva on new softwood timber that requires extra substrate protection against fungal attack. Apply a priming coat of Cetol HLS plus for hardwood or softwood in selected color. Where necessary, repair with Componex WR Flex Apply 2 finishing coats of Cetol HLS plus. For best results, it is necessary to keep the interval between applications of these coats limited, not exceeding 1 month.

Application

  • Do not thin.
  • Stir thoroughly.
  • Apply by brush.

Clean Up

Clean the brushes and equipment immediately after use with White Spirit.
