    Additional information

    Surface Preparation

Ensure surfaces are free from, oil, grease and other contamination and are clean and dry. All previously applied film forming products should be removed. Any discoloured wood should be sanded until an original surface is visible.

Remove mould, algae, lichens and moss with a stiff brush and scraper. Eradicate residual growth using household bleach, 1 part bleach to 4 parts water, preferable applied in dry weather. Leave for 48 hours, rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry.

Repair any damaged areas; large cracks and open joints should be filled with a suitable high quality, flexible filler/stopper.

Lightly abrade using fine grade abrasive paper working in the direction of the grain. Remove dust using a brush, or preferably a vacuum cleaner, and wipe over the surface with a damp cloth. Allow to dry.

May be applied to surfaces which have previously been treated with exterior woodstains, providing these are in a sound condition. Loose or flaking coatings should be scraped back to a sound surface. Lightly sand in the direction of the grain of the wood with fine abrasive paper and remove dust by brush or preferably by vacuuming. Wipe over with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

Other finishes such as varnish or paint must be completely removed before application.

    Application

    • Stir well before and during use.
    • Apply an even but not excessive coat.
    • Ensure that joints and end grains are fully treated and the application of a second coat to these areas is recommended.
    • Apply further coats to give a minimum of three coat application.
    • Use a synthetic filament brush to apply a full even coat. Always finish in the direction of the wood grain.
    • In warm and dry conditions, for best results dilute the first coat with up to 25% water. Do not apply in direct sunlight.

    Clean Up

All equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with water and detergent. Remove as much product as possible from tools and equipment before washing. Wipe the tin and lid rim with a clean cloth prior to resealing the tin.
