Transforming a Shed Room

April 12th, 2023

Shed rooms are rooms that have been created in the garden for an added space. Whether you use your shed room as an exterior guest room, outdoor living space, or garden office, here are some top tips to help you redecorate the space.

How to paint a shed room:

1. Cleaning:

Make sure the space is clean, vacuum up any cobwebs and debris and clean down the walls with some soapy water

2. Preparation:

Fill any holes or gauges with wood filler, sand them back to a smooth finish and clean again to make sure there’s no dust for when you paint.

3. Priming:

Make sure you spot prime any knots or sap stains with a suitable primer such as Zinsser B-I-N.

4. Painting:

For the best results, use Zinsser Allcoat. Despite being an exterior paint, it can be used in the interior of a shed or a log cabin as it still has exposure to the elements. Zinsser can be tinted to a wide range of colours, so you do not have to compromise on your ideal shade.

Choosing your colours:

The fun part! Since shed rooms characteristically have low ceilings with small amount of natural light, it can feel quite dark. Choosing colours that will bounce light around the room is a great way to make the space feel much airier. With our state-of-the-art tinting facilities, you can choose from hundreds of colours in Zinsser Allcoat. Get in touch with your local Brewers for more information.
