Lloyd’s London Marathon Run with Minstead Trust

October 8th, 2021

Marketing Manager Lloyd Meheux fulfilled one of his goals over the weekend by running the London Marathon for Minstead Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities.

Lloyd started running eight years ago, beginning with a colourful 5K and has been applying to run the London marathon for years without success. After a paint donation to Minstead Trust’s Hanger Farm Art Centre, the charity approached Brewers to see if anybody would have the honour of running for Minstead Trust - we knew Lloyd was the man for the job! Minstead Trust only have a London Marathon space every five years, so Lloyd was honoured and overjoyed to be given the opportunity.

Minstead Trust is based less than a mile from where Lloyd grew up and had the privilege of visiting the Trust to meet some of the incredible people they support. Through the care and passion Minstead Trust provide, people with learning disabilities can lead happier, more independent lives. This has proved to be a challenge during lockdown as the 200 people Minstead Trust support have missed familiar routine and people.

Minstead Trust offer a wide range of services to people with learning disabilities and autism, across Hampsire, Wiltshire and Portsmouth. From day opportunities to work programmes, supported living to community groups, each service has been designed so that people learn valuable life and work skills which will allow them to live more independently.

Lloyd completed the marathon in 3 hours, 26 minutes, and 30 seconds – a new personal best! Over £2,000 has been raised so far for this amazing charity, a huge congratulations to Lloyd for a remarkable achievement!
