Blackfield Creatives: The Finished Mural at 24 High Street Wisbech

August 4th, 2022

A few months ago, we had a chat with Blackfield Creatives, Brewers Wisbech regulars who are a not-for-profit organisation who have a passion for nurturing social cohesion through arts, culture and heritage.

We are pleased to say that their most recent project Brewers Wisbech supported is now finished!

Blackfield Creatives, working in partnership with Fenland District Council (FDC) and the Ferry Project, have transformed the temporary hoardings that protect the derelict site at 24 High Street in Wisbech into a beautiful work of art.

This creative project has seen the Blackfields Creatives team working with volunteer Wisbech Street Champions and local people to change the hoardings into contemporary public art, which will remain in place whilst the Council continues to develop the area.

This stunning artwork is a celebration of nature, with artist Tim Mann using bold colours to create an eye-catching mural at the site, which forms part of the Wisbech High Street project redevelopment programme within the town centre.

The Blackfield Creatives team were also delighted to be joined by a local student who completed a programme of work experience with them while they were creating the mural, as part of her Creative Media Practice (Journalism) studies at Peterborough College.

The team were hugely impressed by this talented young creative and hope to work with her again in the future. An article written by the student about her experiences can be found on the Blackfield Creatives website here.

Blackfield Creatives is a non-profit organisation working across Fenland. They believe that access to the Arts can help to nurture social cohesion and their work is always delivered with, and for, the community.

They particularly aim to work with those who may be socially excluded for any reason and are currently developing a number of exciting new projects, which will be located in Wisbech and March.

If you would like to find out more about their work, visit their website at www.blackfieldcreatives.com or get in contact with the team at blackfieldcreatives@gmail.com.
