And the award goes to... PDA Premier Trophy Awards 2017

July 14th, 2017

The 29th Premier Trophy Awards took place on 6th July 2017 at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. The Painting and Decorating Association received 70 entries in which 51 were selected, covering all aspects of the painting and decorating industry. The Painting and Decorating Association is the premier trade and employers’ association for painting and decorating contractors in the United Kingdom.

Seven judges travelled throughout England, Wales and Scotland visiting numerous projects. The judges Victor Hollings, John Noble, Bob Hewitt, Roy Young, Frank Miller, Ray Williams and GT May are independent from the PDA and are full members of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate. Whilst visiting the selected projects, the judges were looking for workmanship meeting the objectives of the Premier Trophy Awards: demonstrate the diversity of skill and craft, show efficiency of service to clients and develop the highest standards of excellence for the industry.

Brewers Decorator Centres are a loyal sponsor to the Premier Trophy Awards and have supported the awards for copious years.

The awards are split into 6 categories: Commercial, Industrial, Decorative, Highly Decorative, Small Contractor and Special Award for Excellence. Within these categories are different classes of certification; Winner, Very Highly Commended, Highly Commended, Commended and Accreditation Certificate. Winners included projects ranging from a hospital, a distributor centre, a Grade 1 listed building and a National Museum.

Highly Commended status for Whittle Programmed Painting's work at Derby County Football Club

Special recognition to Whittle Programmed Painting who was awarded Highly Commended status in the Commercial category for their work carried out on the Derby County Football Club. Whittle Programmed Painting repainted the stadium and structural steelwork using Dulux products from Brewers Decorator Centres. Due to the busy nature of the football club, the work had to be carried out in the ‘closed’ season from mobile working platforms due to difficult access.
