Looking Back at Thank your Local Tradesperson Nominees 2021

December 27th, 2021

Brewers’ Thank your Local Tradesperson campaign has been carried out throughout the year, giving customers the chance to recognise the dedication and craftmanship their tradespeople demonstrate in their work. We have picked some of our personal highlights from the year below!

1. Creating a Beautiful Hallway - The Prestige Decorating Company

They have done a fantastic job on our hallway. We can't thank them enough!

2. Serving the Local Community - MH Builders

During lockdown this local hero volunteered & worked alone at our local cricket club constructing a new bar for the benefit of the local community

3. Bringing Joy to Customers - Willowgreen Decorating

Because she is INCREDIBLE!!! Ashley brings warmth and joy into our house and knows everything there is to know about paint and colour…and if she doesn’t, she’ll find out. She has been with us on and off all year and is currently undertaking a massive project throughout the house and 9 times out of 10 is singing. We love her, our kids love her, and the cat loves her!

4. Spreading Positivity with Painting & Decorating - MCC Painting and Decorating

Tony has helped me on many a project that needed a spray finish or for just an extra hand. He's also my brother and after serving in the army for over 22 years, he now suffers with PTSD and decorating helps him cope with this. He's also a scout leader and does lots of charity work!

5. Creating Beautiful Pieces of Furniture - The Shed

He's amazing, he's a single full-time dad, was made redundant last year but took it as an opportunity to find a trade! He's done so well and makes some beautiful pieces. He's been very helpful to me as well, charged 'mate’s rates' as I was one of his first customers and he needed the experience more than anything. He's a lovely guy and nothing is too much to ask.”

6. Creating a Home with Hard Work and Kindness - Buffin Maintenance

Anthony dropped everything to work on our house recently. Our purchase of our first home completed whilst our first child was in intensive care after arriving 13 weeks early. The house needed huge remodelling inside, and Anthony plastered, coved, skirted, built and painted over a couple of weeks to give us a habitable home to bring our little girl home to. Best of all, he dedicated his time for free to help us out. This was truly one of those DIY SOS moments and Anthony as a general builder and maintenance engineer took on all of our complex challenges. From new ceilings being hung to a media TV wall being custom built to the multiple layers of paint that needed applying and sanding. Everything we needed was done with exception of the flooring. He missed out on time with his own young family to support ours. He is also buying a house himself and supporting us has delayed that process. This seems like a great way to say thank you. Being able to bring out vulnerable daughter home to a safe environment is essential. Anthony was pivotal in this happening.”

6. Sparking a Very Complimentary Nomination - Large Electrical

Everybody needs to know that Mark Large did a fantastic job of our rewiring. He was reliable from the very start. He always did what he said he was going to do when he said he was going to do it.  He was very flexible when we had to change the start date and once he started he worked hard 7 days a week to complete the task and minimise disruption.  He was tidy and respectful of our property, careful with the more destructive tasks necessary for sinking wires into the walls, creative in addressing some of our more unusual challenges and intelligent in anticipating ways of future proofing his work for the further alterations we have planned.  I don't know how he fitted into some of the small spaces or contrived to route wires to hard-to-reach parts of the house. He kept us well informed at all stages about progress and next steps, warned me when I was making expensive choices of fittings and helped me out of a difficult situation when I screwed a floorboard into the central heating pipe.  When I first contacted Mark, I was clear that I wanted an electrician who would involve me in the project, ensure that I understood the wiring routes in the house and that he left us in the best possible position for making good, plastering, and redecorating.  No photo can do justice to his work since what he has done is rebuilt the infrastructure of the house which is gradually being beautifully concealed behind the new decor as we continue with the project.  I would be delighted if he was selected for one of your prizes as we know he bought tools specifically for our job and because the price he quoted and kept to was very good and his workmanship, attitude and commitment are worth far more than I paid him.

It has been a true pleasure reading through every nomination of local tradespeople and being able to give a little something back in recognition for such incredible work has been an honour. We can’t wait to see what 2022 will bring!
