Tremendous 'feet' as Brewers Trek the Night!

July 18th, 2017

Trek the Night

Starting at Devil’s Dyke at midnight on Saturday 15th July, 3 teams of Brewers head office and branch staff took the first steps on their 40 mile walk across the challenging terrain of the South Downs Way.  It was a chilly start but the teams soon warmed up as the legs started moving!

Raising money for Action Medical Research the teams joined over hundred other walkers all taking on the distance for this very worthy cause.  Action have been funding medical breakthroughs since they began in 1952 and have made significant advances to help save the lives of thousands of children.

As the teams trekked on through the early hours of the morning, the sun started to rise and the beautiful South Downs landscape took their minds off tired feet and blisters...for a minute or two at least!

One of the biggest challenges for a distance like this is the final stretch, and on the Trek the Night route it happens to be over the Seven Sisters cliffs – tough at the best of times but with 30+ miles in the legs already, it is even tougher.

The big final push got the Brewers teams to the finish line at Beachy Head in Eastbourne in first, third and fifth place where they were met with a big welcome from friends, family and colleagues.

The teams would not have been complete without the support of the trusty drivers who provided all important morale boosting, chocolate fuelling and alternative footware options along the way!

Well done to all the teams that took part – a gruelling challenge that will help save lives.
