Benjamin Moore have announced their Colour Trends for 2025 with Cinnamon
Slate 2113-40, as their Colour Of The Year 2025. A delicate mix of heathered
plum and velvety brown, Cinnamon Slate 2113-40 offers enduring style and a
modern sensibility. It encapsulates the idea of quietly colourful, with unique
undertones that add to the versatility and adaptability of this hue.

When designing a room with Cinnamon Slate, bringing in warmer accents in
golds and ambers can make the violet undertone more distinguishable.
Conversely, by using cooler colours and lighting, and plum hues, Cinnamon Slate
can take on more of a neutral look. Cinnamon Slate is a hue that shows the
beauty and nuance that undertones can have and bring to a design. It shows the
confidence of these types of in-between hues and all that they can bring to a
space.
The term undertone has gained popularity over the past few years,
offering a way to help decipher colour and explain why the same paint colour
looks blue in one room and green in another. It has added another word to our
design vocabulary and tool in our kit to help us describe what it is we are
looking for (or not looking for) in a paint colour. Although a paint colour may
look like it is just blue, often multiple pigments blend to create that exact
shade and that is what results in undertones.
For Colour Trends 2025, the experts from Benjamin Moore wanted to
highlight colour palette staples that bring a softer approach to colour but can
still create a mood in a space. Certainly not neutral, but not quite primary, they
saw colours that encourage curiosity and invite you to think of all ends of
the colour spectrum.
The Colour Trends 2025 palette consists of ten hushed hues that are
unassuming, but still present. As foundational colours, they are happy to watch
the layers of a room unfold but don’t get lost in the background. They don’t
define themselves as just red, green, violet, or grey, but instead, the nuances
of these colours and the intricacies of their undertones are what makes them so
captivating.

The more neutral side of the palette consist of Glacier White OC-37, Sea
Salt CSP-95, Paris Rain 1501, and Tissue Pink 1163. Whilst these hues look
straightforward or even simple at a first glance, as you work with the colours,
you will begin to see them in context and understand the capabilities and
versatility of these hues.

side of the palette, with Chowning’s Tan CW-195 and Leather Saddle Brown
2100-20. Benjamin Moore
have seen this trend towards warmer, cosier hues and nothing epitomizes that
quite like the brown colour family. From caramel to leather to chocolatey hues,
this versatile colour family is gaining traction as a go-to for an easygoing
but sophisticated look. Lastly, the saturated side of the palette features
Stained Glass CSP-685, Rosepine 461, and Ashwood Moss 1484, as people are
continuing to be drawn to the outdoors and nature’s colour palette, green greys
are trending upwards.

Together, these ten hues make up the Colour Trends 2025 palette. They
can stand alone beautifully or work together harmoniously creating a colour
palette that transitions gracefully from room-to-room. These “in-between hues”
celebrate a more nuanced approach to colour.

These are colours that are not oversaturated, so you won’t tire of them
easily. They are adaptable and work with the lifelong curation of our homes as
we swap in and move around items forever combining new with old. These hues help us find our colour confidence
without overwhelming a space. They feel comfortable and have a sense of
familiarity but don’t fade into the background.
