Over 300 rolls of wallpaper donated to inspire future decorators

February 22nd, 2018

Budding students from Sussex attended their first of four decorating sessions on Thursday 15th February. The Decorating Skills workshop held by furniture charity Hastings and Rother Furniture Service (HFS), aims to teach students the correct techniques when applying paint and wallpaper was fully booked!

Over 300 rolls of wallpaper were kindly donated to The Decorating Skills workshop by Brewers in Hastings. Many of the rolls contributed were highly patterned, ideal for those learning how to match patterns during the course.

“All donations we receive for the courses, such as the wallpaper from Brewers goes a very long way in helping us keep these sessions free or low cost - and keeping them available to everyone regardless of income.” Hastings and Rother Furniture Service.

Following the popularity of The Decorating Skills workshop, HFS are hoping to run this course again later in the year which means the chance to introduce further potential decorators to our industry.

In the meantime, HFS tutors run weekly DIY sessions at local women’s refuge centres and visit the Rother region in the Workshop on Wheels – a large transit van converted into a mobile workshop! Want to help restore furniture to sell in HFS stores? Join HFS' volunteer workshop on Tuesday’s.
