Exquisite Exterior Decorating From GNO Decor!

Painter and decorator and Brush Wizards member, Wayne from GNO Décor shared his latest exterior job with us and we just couldn’t wait to share it with the rest of the decorating community! We got in touch with Wayne to find out more about his life as a decorator and find out more about his latest job.

Thank you for taking the time to chat to us Wayne! How long have you been a painter and decorator for?

About 14 years roughly – but I never started off with the intention of being a decorator full time!

Ahh okay, so how did you get into painting and decorating?

My dad, he was a painter and decorator for 40 years and I learnt everything I know from him. When he passed away from cancer in 2022, I decided to quit my full-time job and take over his business so his legacy could continue. I didn’t want 4 decades of his hard graft to just vanish, so I took over GNO Décor.

That’s such a hard journey to go on, but I am sure your dad is very proud of you for continuing his work. Speaking of jobs to be proud of, your latest exterior job looks absolutely incredible! Can you tell us more about it?

For me, the highlight was definitely in the preparation. Being able to see the window and wall repairs made a huge difference, even before any paint was applied! 

The trickiest part was our Great British summer we are currently having! One minute it was 30 degrees and the next it was raining!

Yes, I can imagine this kind of weather is a complete nightmare when working outdoors! What are some of your favourite products to use when decorating?

For prep and sundries, I love Toupret fillers and Arroworthy Brushes and Roller Sleeves. In terms of finishes, ISOMAT and Albany Masterdec have to be some of my favourites!

Excellent choices! What keeps you coming back to Brewers?

The staff at Brewers Bedford and St Neots are always so helpful and willing to give any advice I might need. I can usually get all the products I need there and then but if I can’t the staff will always go above and beyond to make sure it’s ordered in time for you.
