“My name is Gary and I’m the founder of the Brush Wizard community. I have been a painter and decorator for over 25 years and have grown a successful business and loyal customer base, but often found myself disillusioned with the never-ending pressure of running my own business.”

“I found myself suffering with anxiety and feeling constantly overwhelmed, which started to impact my business and family life. I could never relax and found I couldn’t switch off, even on a family holiday. This drove me to explore ways to improve my mental health.”

“In 2018 I trained to become a Cognitive Hypnotherapist. This course transformed my life and made me realise the importance of looking after my mental health and wellbeing."

 "I formed Brush Wizards with the intention of cultivating a safe space for fellow painter and decorators to share their challenges and provide mutual support, to ease the sense of isolation often prevalent in our industry. I wanted to be able to offer this support but also use my knowledge and contact network of fellow mental health workers to offer talks and tips to help our fellow tradies. We have regular mental health talks from qualified therapists that are recorded and continually available to our community.”

“The group grew rapidly and I was able to secure some amazing sponsors like Brewers that have offered discounts and products to our wizards. We now have a directory exclusively for painters and decorators, for lead generation, product knowledge. We also offer the ability to connect with painters and decorators in your local community for job opportunities or friendship.”

“Whilst the community is expanding, I work tirelessly to ensure the group is a safe space for all and that any question, advice sought, or camaraderie is met with respect and kindness. I am continually looking at ways to grow our community and offer whatever I can to assist painters and decorators in the running of their business. I am also keen to save them time and money with all the tools available to them through the platform.”
