A New Chapter For Kingswood Village Community Association

September 2nd, 2024

The Brewers Foundation were thrilled to support the Kingswood Village Community Association (KVCA) with the donation of Bradite OneCan in a range of colours to completely transform a shipping container into a work of art!

The shipping container has been used by the KVCA as a storage facility for 3 decades, so it was time to show it some love and give the container a brand-new lease of life. The mural became a community art project, encouraging locals to suggest titles of books that best reflected Kingswood that became a part of the design whilst KVCA Chair, Bob Gunn came up with the concept of windows looking out onto the countryside as the main feature of the mural.

Kingswood resident Jacqui Wilson and her colleagues in the Tadworth Art Group (TAG) were delighted to get involved and TAG artist Judit Matthews responded to the brief with a delightful sketch, bringing the whole vision to life! The mural features the countryside that can be seen in Kingswood and the book spines feature imaginative book titles reflecting the variety of clubs and organisations in the Kingswood community.

The main painting took just seven days to transform what was a sad and neglected storage container at the back of the village hall into the vibrant depiction of the countryside and accompanying bookcase. TAG’s close knit art community managed to create such a beautiful mural despite this summer’s heatwave and the challenge of painting onto an uneven surface.

The final result looks incredible and certainly makes Kingswood Village a brighter place! To see how Brewers can help you transform your local community, please click here>>
