Brightening The Future Of Students: Brewers Minworth Supports Specialist College With Paint Donation

April 5th, 2024

Brewers Minworth Manager, Dean Fullwood, was thrilled to be able to support Queen Alexandra College when they popped into store enquiring about help with their building refurbishments.

Queen Alexandra College (QAC), based near Birmingham, is a charity that runs a college, provides residential services, and runs community service programmes for young adults with visual impairment, learning difficulties and disabilities.

Head of Income Generation at QAC, Cathryn Worth, approached the branch for a donation of paint for a house on one of their campuses, Umberslade. This campus aims to provide new outdoor learning opportunities and experiences for QAC students such as horticulture, gardening, and wildlife and conservation exploration.

Dean said: ‘Where they are different to anywhere else in the country is that they also prepare students for work placement and independent living. To do this, they have multiple properties onsite and in the surrounding area where the students live as independently as possible until they can fully live alone.'

As well as a cheque for £350, we donated 12 x 10L Brewers Contract Matt and 3 x 5Ltr Albany Soft Sheen plus some Brewers t-shirts, caps and pint glasses – which they all seemed to really like!

Cathryn said: ‘Thank you for the paint, it really is a huge help. Thank you also for the goodies – the maintenance team are enjoying the beer glasses (not with beer just yet though!) and they asked me to let our trades students have the hats and t shirts. I'm sure they'll love them!

Dean added: ‘It’s a brilliant cause and they rely a lot on charitable donations, so I think that it was well worth donating to.
