Off the wall

November 12th, 2018

A project supported by Bedford store has resulted in a fantastic mural, which has not only brightened up a dull wall but also helped to bring a community together.

As we mentioned back in July, a local housing association, the Bedford Pilgrims Housing Association (bpha) was asked to help create the mural at Princess Street, Clapham as the community there is very diverse and they needed a focus to bring everybody together.

Sales rep, Harry Stone, was approached by Kim Burrows, the community development officer to see if Brewers would support them, as they had helped on a similar project two years ago.

As well as providing advice on what was needed, the store donated some Albany Stabilising Solution and Smooth Masonry Paint for the mural, which was painted by local children under the guidance of artist Sam who grew up on the estate.

Harry said: “I met Kim on site and gave her the product advice required to paint the wall, then William and Mark from our Bedford store got involved and we supplied all the materials required.

“bpha gave us some really nice feedback and the community at Princess Street said our help was fantastic and really made a difference.”
