Painting and Decorating With a View! Proud Decorator Keith Locker

We got in touch with one of our #ProudDecorator winners, Keith Locker to find out more about his experience as a painter and decorator.

How long have you been a painter and decorator for?

"I am 58 years old and have been decorating since I left school at 16. I have been self-employed for 32 years and now employ my son. I am lucky to live and work in Whitby and also do a lot of decorating at Robin Hoods Bay, a beautiful fishing village located on the North York Moors National Park."

What’s been one of your most memorable projects you’ve worked on?

"One of my customers from Robin Hood Bay used to own all the telescopes around the coast which brings me to my most memorable job. He also owned 30 telescopes in Gibraltar where I went twice to paint. The first telescope I painted on the first morning of the job was at Europa point, the southernmost point of Gibraltar from where you can see the coast of Africa. Definitely my most memorable job!"

How did it feel to be one of our #ProudDecorator winners?

"Although it sounds corny, I did feel proud winning the voucher just to have the recognition of a nice job. I will be putting the voucher towards buying a Colour Sensor."
