Sponsoring England's Next Football Star

October 20th, 2022

Maddison Stanbury is a 16-year-old who has been playing football for a decade. She moved to be a goalkeeper 8 years ago and has never looked back! Maddison has achieved so much in such a short amount of time, so Brewers were more than happy to support her through sponsorship, allowing her to buy some new football equipment.

Maddison’s Story:

Maddison has had some setbacks over the years, including an operation and being let go by Southampton after being with them at elite level for 5 years. This has given her some much needed resilience and has kept her pushing to be the best player she can. Previously she had been spotted by England and invited to a national camp, but due to an injury and covid was unable to attend.

The 2021-2022 season saw Maddison released and she had to find a new club. She joined a National Tier 4 woman’s team and a county U16 team. During this season at the age of 16, Maddison made her national debut in goal.

Twitter went wild with the news and clubs and coaches from all over the country took notice of her. She then moved on to play a handful of games until the end of the season, at the same time she played at county level which allowed her to be put back onto the England pathway. Maddison was invited to a couple of half day England Talent ID days, with her final one being a full day England GK camp where she trialled against GK’s from all over the country.

In the last few months, Maddison has travelled the country to trial for various WSL U21 academies, with the goal to be offered a spot and play at the highest level possible. Her dream came true when Arsenal offered her a 2-year contract playing for them, and at the same time England added her to their long list of players for the U17 squad. Since then, Maddison has had the opportunity to mix with the Arsenal women’s first team.

It’s such an exciting time to be a part of women’s football right now and we wish Maddison the brightest future for her football career!
