Celebrating The Turner Prize In Style!

September 26th, 2023

This year the prestigious Turner Prize will be held at The Towner Eastbourne, an art gallery Brewers have worked with for many years, supporting their vision of transforming lives and communities through the arts. This autumn will see an explosion of art across the town as communities come together to celebrate all things creative. We were delighted to get involved with one of these groups, donating Albany paint and sundries to a mural commissioned by The Devonshire Collective to celebrate such a momentous art occasion.

To celebrate the Turner Prize coming to Eastbourne this year, The Devonshire Collective will be presenting a series of artist commissions in places of community and daily life, and in collaboration with Eastbourne’s unique creative community in partnership with Eastbourne Alive.

Devonshire Collective X Youth Collective

The Devonshire Collective started developing a Youth Collective as part of the Devonshire gallery, which is a free monthly collective space for young people aged 16-25 to get inspired, think and create together.

The Youth Collective worked with The Sanctuary Cafe in Eastbourne on a project led by London based graphic artist, Nadina Ali, which explores the meaning of sanctuary and spreading a positive message about what it means to be a migrant and asylum seeker.

The mural is in a prime location on Eastbourne seafront for passers by to see. It was amazing to see so many people get involved with such a community led project and it was a true pleasure to be able to support.
