Incredible Transformations And Historic Restorations With Tynemouth Decorators Ltd

We got in touch with
Stephen Hull from Tynemouth Decorators Ltd to find out more about his latest
project, a stunning Victorian home a stone throws away from the beautiful
beaches of the North Tyneside coastline and only 8 miles from the City centre
of Newcastle upon Tyne.
With a total of 32 years’
experience, Tynemouth Decorators Ltd believe that if you’re going to do
something, you need to spend the time to do it right and the results will speak
for themselves.
Stephen said: “the prep
work was unbelievable with this property, often with more than three decorators
on site at a time. The project took a total of four months, so it wasn’t for
the faint hearted! But it was totally worth it.”
It’s often said that it is
all in the prep work, which was an understatement for this project!
Stephen adds: “The
house was left mostly untouched for forty years, so we had to spend a lot of
time restoring ornate coving and preparing all the woodwork for new paint
finishes.”
The project used almost 30
different colours with a wide range of wallpapers and specialist wallcoverings.
Stephen continues: “We
had the pleasure of working with a range of other trades on this job, including
Vaughan Thompson (the main building contractor) and Decorcare North East who
took care of a lot of the wallpapering and Lincrusta installation.
Our
favourite product we used on the job was Little Greene’s Intelligent Matt, not
only did this work perfectly with the Lincrusta wallcoverings, but we were able
to use one finish on all the woodwork in some rooms to get the colour drenched
effect which looked absolutely incredible”
With such a large-scale
job, it could have been hard to see the finishing line. But not for Stephen:
“It was a real
highlight to see the transformation and working with a client who knew exactly
what they wanted. The colours and designs worked so well with the existing
architecture so I could completely see them becoming an interior designer!
My
team, Stephen, Callum, Rohan and the two Michael’s worked hard to complete this
project. Without their dedication, we would have not completed this project on
time and to a high-quality finish.
We
are now working on another 2 Victorian properties after sharing the project
online, so we will be heading back to Brewers soon for supplies!”
