Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Reveals Multi-Generational House With Albany Paints

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (LLB)
unveils his newly refurbished, 17th century Cotswold manor house which has been
reconfigured to create newly decorated quarters for him and wife Jackie, as
well as a practical family home for his daughter, Hermione’s, growing family.

Albany Dune Sea has been used
behind the bookshelves.
Albany Durable Matt and
Super Satin has been used throughout the home in a wide range of colours from
the Albany Colour Collection and RAL to complement LLB’s bespoke wallpapers for
beautifully bold schemes throughout.
The drawing room is as bold and colourful as the couple themselves who celebrate 36 years of marriage this year and their 60th birthdays.
The walls have been painted in RAL 2004 and
complemented with Albany Parisienne on the trim.
Jackie and Laurence’s sunny dining room opens straight onto the garden terrace.
Laurence used
flexible mouldings to give architectural interest to the ceiling with Albany
Stepping Stone used as an accent colour.
To make the house work as two distinct dwellings, a new staircase was needed. Laurence worked closely with the local conservation officer to create a solution very much in keeping with the 17th century manor house.
The walls have been painted in Oxford Blue from the Albany Colour Collection.
The later, 1640s wing of the house is now home to Hermione and her family, husband Drew and daughters Romilly and Eleanora.
Here the palette of blues and greens has been designed as
a subtle, practical background to boisterous family living. The window seats have
been painted in Albany Dune Sea.
The landing (formerly a
guest bedroom) has been decorated with bespoke elements and trim painted in Albany
Oxford Blue.
The landing at the top of
the stairs is a very hard-working area since the cupboards conceal the washing
machine and dryer, a laundry sink, drying cupboard and Laurence’s walk-in wardrobe,
as well as the usual linen and laundry you’d expect!
Granddaughter, Romilly, can
be seen sneaking through from Hermione’s side to the grandparent zone which happens
to be through a door in the first-floor corridor covered with fake books and
painted in Albany Tranquil.
Laurence has created a
principal suite looking over the garden which is entered through the dressing
area, lined with cupboards painted in Albany Oyster.
The master bedroom is very
much inspired by LLB’s travels and is ‘their ultimate boutique hotel room’ with
Albany Oyster used on all the trim.
Laurence converted a
walk-in cupboard into a luxurious appointed Hollywood glam style make up room
for Jackie, which as you can imagine, is a constant source of fascination for
the granddaughters! The zesty orange is RAL 2004.
The principal bathroom
suite continues the boutique style glam with Midge, the dog, enjoying a bath!
The ceiling has been painted in Albany Toreador for a statement look.
The guest bathroom has
panelling painted in Albany in RAL 2004 with a bath LLB painted back when this
space was the bedroom he shared with Jackie.
For Hermione and Drew’s
principal bedroom, Herminone has opted for a more contemporary style using
Albany Fudge Cake and a bespoke LLB wallpaper.
Lastly, LLB designed a
special pattern for granddaughter, Romilly, using his drawings of fairies and
silhouettes of Romilly. Hermione’s favourite dusky pink colour scheme has been
used with Albany Fudge Cake.
