Brewers Colleagues On A Fundraising Mission!
April 29th, 2025
Congratulations to Jake Coleman, Sales Advisor at Brewers Hastings who achieved a long-held ambition to run the London marathon – his first ever marathon. Having tried the ballot for the last eight years, he was thrilled to be offered a charity spot and managed to complete the course in a very impressive 3 hours 31 minutes and 40 seconds.
He mainly got into long distance running because he ran the Hastings half marathon in 2019 and almost lost his life after suffering a cardiac arrest just past the finish line, so he has since dedicated his time to improving his fitness.
He has run the race four times since and owns a running club in
Hastings called Constant Pursuit Run Club.
Jake was running for the Sara Lee Trust which helps people
who have been diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness by
providing free counselling, complementary therapies and group.
…and also in East Sussex, congratulations to caretaker at Brewers
Albany House, Brett Burton, who boxed his way to victory in April at a charity
boxing event.
Brett knocked out his opponent within an amazing 30 seconds
at the Ultra White Collar Boxing black tie event, after getting himself
match-ready since the end of February by running and going to the gym.
Although it was his first time being in the ring, he is no
stranger to challenging himself to extreme sports. Brett said: ‘I felt that I
needed a new challenge after running marathons and ultra marathons and
duathlons!’
So far, Brett has managed to raise £1000 for MIND. He said: ‘I chose MIND because there is so much going on
in the world and everyone is under so much pressure.’
