Supporting Petersfield Men’s Shed With Woodcare Donation

October 4th, 2023

The Brewers Foundation was able to support the Petersfield Men’s Shed with a donation of materials to support their vision of alleviating the isolation of men experiencing loneliness potentially caused by retiring from work, bereavement or medical reasons.

Petersfield Men’s Shed is a group of men in the Petersfield area aiming to create an environment where men of all ages can come and socialise, join in workshop activities, learn new skills and enjoy a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.

They want to achieve this by working together and using their collective practical, hands-on skills and life experiences to support local community and charitable projects as well as your own hobbies and interests. The benefits of the group are support, inclusion and good company – and a chance to try out new activities!

The Brewers Foundation donated a range of woodcare products and sundries to help with some of their current projects:

Creating a dozen Kestral Nesting Boxes for a local nature conserve:

Total refurbishment of a member’s garden seat. The bench had belonged to his deceased father-in-law who originally made it over 50 years ago and had very sentimental meaning for his wife:

They also make many items from redundant wood and used many of the donated finishes:

Channelling their inner 'repair shop’ skills, members have also renovated three abandoned and very rusty mangles which would not have been possible without rust remover and enamel paints from Brewers. These are sold as decorative items to raise funds for the Shed:

We were so happy to see some of the projects that have been worked on and cannot wait to see more incredible things produced at The Men’s Shed Petersfield!
