A Fresh Return for Norwich Pre-schoolers
October 23rd, 2020
Children and staff at a Norwich playgroup have had a fresh start to the autumn term, with a donation from their local Brewers Decorator Centre.
Sprowston Nursery Playgroup was one of the many settings affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, having to close its doors in the spring. When told they could reopen in September, staff had the mammoth task of preparing the playgroup for the children's safe return.
'I approached the playgroup to see if they needed any help with decorating materials,' said Richard Poole, manager of Brewers Norwich North. 'I know someone on the committee there, and I knew they were going to have to complete a deep clean before allowing children back into the playgroup.'
The playgroup needed to paint the walls in the entrance hall and toilet areas. 'I advised that they would need a durable finish due to the amount of traffic in those areas,' said Richard. 'They selected the Albany colour Romantic Rain, which we mixed in Albany Durable Matt.'
'The playgroup is a vital part of the Sprowston community and the kids have loved being back there with their friends after such a break'
Before and After
The entrance hall was treated to a deep clean and fresh coat of durable paint ready to welcome the children back
Ten litres of paint were donated, as well as Albany brushes and rollers. Staff then set to work over the summer holidays, cleaning and freshening up the playgroup, and happily welcomed their children back in September.
'The playgroup looks completely refreshed,' said Richard, 'and I know all the staff enjoyed getting together to work on the project after such a long time apart. The playgroup is a vital part of the Sprowston community and the kids have loved being back there with their friends after such a break.'
'At a time of so much stress and uncertainty, the project gave our staff a positive goal to work together to achieve,’ said a representative of the playgroup. 'And it gave us optimism for the future opening and welcoming children back. I would like to thank Brewers for their generous donation, Richard Poole for his help, and all the staff for their hard work.'
