Proud Sponsors Of The East Surrey YMCA Fun Run

Brewers were thrilled to be able to
once again sponsor the East Surrey YMCA Fun Run that happened last weekend,
with a team of Brewers colleagues showing up to offer cheers of encouragement!

Shahid, Neal Brewer, Wayne Broughton, Lauren Clark, Paul Franklin, Joshua
Chease, Hilary Corbett, Kat Robinson and Emily White came out in full force to
support all the runners. There was also a sports festival at the event, with
plenty of food and drink as well as local sports clubs who offered free tasters
of their sports.
Brewers have sponsored the run every year since it
started 25 years ago. The Brewer family has been actively involved in
supporting and financing the work of the YMCA in Redhill for over 50 years and
Mr Chris Brewer was chairman for 13 years, following in the footsteps of his
father and grandfather. Redhill has been an important part of the Brewers
story, opening up a store there over 100 years ago.
All money raised from the 2024 challenge
events will go toward YMCA East Surrey’s Life Change Fund, set up to help
transform young lives in East Surrey. Last year they raised £80k to acquire and
fund the new Y Bus which is a mobile youth club on wheels! This new project
will offer a mobile YMCA reaching out to areas in need to provide vital
services such as detached youth work, play, sport and physical activity.
In 2024, they will also be opening a new
move-in accommodation for 6 young people in Redhill. They are aiming to raise
£100k through challenge events towards refurbishment costs as well as furniture
for individual bedrooms and communal areas. All the fundraising will help to
create a nurturing environment that truly feels like home.
