Wood boring insect is a description given to the infestation of a wooden item (normally part of a dwelling or the furniture in it) by the wood-eating larvae of any of many species of beetle.
Stages
Stage 1 - Preparation
Abrade with 100 grit abrasive paper to remove any loose or flaking areas and to create a key
Fill any holes with a suitable wood filler prior to painting, varnishing or staining.
Stage 2 - Basecoat
Once the surface is clean and all loose material has been removed, treat with as suitable wood preservative and allow to dry.
