Problem
Polystyrene (Expanded Polystyrne Foam) is often used in coving or as ceiling tiles It is made from a plastic base
Stages
Stage 1 - Preparation
Ensure surface is sound dry and clean
If any mould or mildew is apparent, treat with a suitable fungicidal solution, rinse again with clean water and allow to dry.
Brewers recommends:

Albany Fungicidal Wash 1L
- A 1 litre concentrated multi surface treatment to prevent the growth of surface mould on timber and masonry
Stage 2 - Basecoat
Once the surface is clean and all loose material has been removed, apply a thinned first coat of emulsion to satisfy the porosity (Thinned up to 10% Clean Water)

- Durable, high obliteration, high opacity, matt finish, suitable for interior use on walls and ceilings
Stage 3 - Topcoat
Apply an appropriate topcoat and allow to dry, followed by a 2nd coat to finish.
